KW06 International Workshop exhibition at IUAV Tolentini, Venice.
After being exhibited in Zagreb, Ljubljana and Istanbul, the results of the international workshop "KW06" (among which appears our project n Variations), hold in Pula (HR) during an intense week in May 2006, will arrive in Venice today with an opening presentation at 6:30 p.m. at IUAV Tolentini (Santa Croce, 191). The works will be freely visitable until December 21st.

"Katarina '06" is a project conceived and developed by Pulska Grupa, with the intention of promoting to the Istrian institutions and to the local population the opportunity of a different type and methods for urban pianification, closer to people's participation, specially in those demilitarized areas of the Istria's coasts, nowadays under the global threat of élite tourism.

"Katarina '06" will represent Croatia at the XIII Biennial of Young Mediterranean Artists, which will open in Bari in May 2008.

July 12th, 2007 [Salottobuono goes Pechakuching!]
Salottobuono will speak about its work to the first Pechakucha Night organized in Venice. The event will begin at 20:20 and will take place in the Aula Magna of IUAV Tolentini main building.

Pecha Kucha Night, devised by Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham [Klein Dytham architecture], was conceived in 2003 as a place for young designers to meet, network, and show their work in public. Since its first debut in Tokyo, the format has contaminated more than 70 cities around the globe, which all saw their particular edition of the event.

June 7th, 2007
Salottobuono will give a lecture inside Challengers, an event that will take place at Laboratorio Occupato Morion (Venice), during the days of the vernissage of the 52nd Art Biennale. Our speaking will be enriched by a streaming connection with Giovanni Piovene, from Berlin, telling us about the ex-NSA Radar Station of Teufelsberg and its actual life as precarious space frequented by occasional users.

Here's the abstract of the lecture:

Autotransfusion: from Enclosure to Phantom Limb, to Enclosure again
Salottobuono will lead you in a little journey through the recent history and the contemporary paranoia about home security. Analyzing the connections between the military and the civilian paradigms, we’ll try to document two different kinds of autotransfusion: on the big, territorial scale, with an attempt to investigate the identity of a dismissed military zone in Pula (Croatia), and, on the microphysical scale, with an overview over the design of some brand new paramilitary products.
